Reflections

This week during class, we "focused" on learning how to use manual "focus" (haha...no pun intended...maybe).  We began the week by using Camera Simulator to understand the principles of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. We took the same subject and took a handful of different photos by adjusting the settings. We then put what we learned to the test and went out to the hallway to take photos on the spot. We took photos of a person jumping in focus, a person jumping while not in focus, an object with the background in focus, an object with the background not in focus, and a macro photo. This is a very difficult task, especially when we were just starting out and went out in the hall to photograph someone jumping. Either you got it or you didn't, there was no "ehh, this is an okay picture." Included below are two photographs from this photo shoot.

Happy Capturing,

This week, we concentrated on a singular rule of composition. I picked rule of thirds, where I had to place my subject in interesting positions and placed it at the intersection of two imaginary lines on the lens (dividing it into thirds). We visited the school duck that lives in the courtyard at the school, and spent almost half of the class period taking pictures of him. Below are my two most successful photos from this shoot. I believe these are successful because they portray rule of thirds well, the subjects are clear and in interesting positions that showcase movement, and the backgrounds are interesting (but do not take over the photo). If you're interested in more pictures of the school duck, visit Artwork (located under Photography) and find the album, "Mr.Ducky Photos". Click the photo and it will bring you to the Google Photo Album.

Happy Capturing,

This week in my photography class, we centered on forced perspective, which is a lot harder than it looks. I won't even try to lie, I struggled with this assignment the most of all of them. Sometimes I struggle with creativity and this project required a lot of it to come up with photo ideas. It was required that we partner or group up for most of this-as most have one or more subjects. We had to think outside the box for all of them and somehow had to come up with 25 different photos using different ideas. Below are two of my most successful photos from this photo shoot. The rest are linked under Artwork!

Hey all! What an odd time to be alive, but I'm doing my best to continue this website for class at home. It's definitely weird learning photography via Google Classroom, but I think I pulled it off this week. Our challenge was to connect with our younger selves by first, finding a picture from when we were younger. Then, we needed to take a picture of our current selves to incorporate into the other photo. We edited it so it looked like we were both in the photo. I think the final product, if I do say so myself, was very successful. I believe it looks like current me really is in the photo and I recreated it well with a similar shirt. Not only that, but I found a similar tree to the one in the photo, so it looks real! See below for the final product. If you are interested, you can see the original photos under the Artwork tab.

Stay out of Boredom and Happy Capturing,

Quarantine day number, oh, I don't know anymore! I've been trying to keep myself out of boredom while also balancing schoolwork, workouts, family, and friends. I'm also missing my photography buddies to take pictures with every fifth period. Anyway, enough about me, this week in "class" (don't really remember what that's like :P) we're working on macro photos. For those who don't know, that's basically taking a picture really close up or taking it normally and then using the zoom feature on your camera or phone. This was a surprisingly easy task-all I had to do was go out in my backyard and find some interesting nature to get up close and personal in. I found a bunch of really cool flowers and plants that may be weeds and frowned upon in society, but look really neat zoomed in on! Below are my two most successful photographs. Remember, if you're interested in more of my photos, check out my Artwork tab!

Stay Safe and Happy Capturing,

Caroline <3
